In the northern part of the state, Myrtle Beach is the main beach. Part of the "grand strand", it can be said that other smaller beaches are a part of Myrtle Beach as a whole such as Garden City, Surfside, Murrells Inlet, and others. While some of the smaller beaches offer family fun, others offer more mature things such as food. Not only is Myrtle Beach known for its fun and relaxation, but it also carries a lot of history. In the area of Georgetown especially, there used to be many pirates who hid out and roamed the area. While the beaches of Myrtle Beach are very popular vacation spots for South Carolinians, they are also extremely popular to vacationers across the country. This is largely contributed to because of the attractions that are present there. One of these being Broadway at the Beach, a popular boardwalk area with many resturaunts, shops, and things to do such as put put. It is also home to a very big aquarium and still many other things.
